چکیده
Objective We aimed to compare the dosimetric characteristics of 6-MV flattening filter mode (FF) and filter-free (FFF) volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plans in preoperative radiotherapy for rectal cancer using an Edge linear accelerator. Methods Two-arc FF-VMAT FFF-VMAT were generated 15 patients with Philips Pinnacle treatment planning system (version 9.10). The homogeneity index, conformity target volume covered by 105% isodose lines, organ-at-risk dosimetry characteristics, monitor units (MUs) compared between plans. results analyzed paired t-tests. Results index plan (0.93 ± 0.01) (0.92 0.02), two groups (0.07 0.03) (0.08 0.01), differences not statistically significant (both P > 0.05). lines was significantly higher than that plan. required a unit (t = 11.49, 0.002) shorter beam-on time 5.78, 0.001) There no absolute receiving 30 Gy 40 bladder intestine colon increased 5.5% 2.1% those 7.2% 2.2%, respectively 20 left right femoral head decreased 3.7% 4.9% (P Conclusion Both met clinical requirements.

Dosimetric comparison of intensity-modulated radiation therapy and volumetric-modulated arc therapy plans for the treatment of glioma using flattening filter-free and flattening filter modes
In the present study, the dose verification between 6X and 6X flattening filter-free (FFF) in intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) was compared, and the advantages and disadvantages of different radiotherapy plans were evaluated. All four plans achieved comparable heterogeneity and conformity indices. For frontal tumor, VMAT demonstrated more ...
متن کاملComparison of VMAT‐SABR treatment plans with flattening filter (FF) and flattening filter‐free (FFF) beam for localized prostate cancer
The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of using a flattening filter-free (FFF) beam with an endorectal balloon for stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) of clinically localized prostate cancer. We assessed plans of SABR with volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) that used a flattening filter (FF) beam and an FFF beam and compared the verification results of dosim...
متن کاملDosimetric influence of Flattening Filter (FF) and Flattening Filter Free (FFF) 6 and 10 MV photon beams on Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) planning in case of prostate carcinoma
Background: In the treatment of prostate cancer, radiotherapy is the potential to increase second primary cancers such as bladder and rectal cancers. The reasons for this potential are more monitor units (MUs), therefore a larger total body dose because of leakage radiation, a bigger volume of normal tissue is exposed to lower radiation doses. This study was designed to compare the integral dos...

Introduction: This study aimed to measure the neutron contamination of flattening filter (FF) and flattening filter-free (FFF) 10-MV photon beams delivered by the Elekta InfinityTM accelerator. Material and Methods: The photoneutron spectrum produced by the Linac head was evaluated using a Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. The geometry ...
متن کاملFlattening Filter-Free Beams in Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy and Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy for Sinonasal Cancer
PURPOSE To evaluate the dosimetric impacts of flattening filter-free (FFF) beams in intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for sinonasal cancer. METHODS For fourteen cases, IMRT and VMAT planning was performed using 6-MV photon beams with both conventional flattened and FFF modes. The four types of plans were compared in terms of target dose homoge...
